Aiko Launches Record-breaking 480W Solar Panel in Australia
Aiko, a prominent Chinese solar technology manufacturer, has introduced its latest innovation in Australia – the 480W Neostar 2P residential solar panel. This cutting-edge panel boasts an impressive module efficiency of 24 per cent, setting a new benchmark in the Australian market.
Manufactured at Aiko’s advanced facility in Zhuhai, China, the 480W Neostar 2P is compact, measuring 1757x1134mm and weighing under 22kg. Despite its high power output, the panel occupies only 2 square metres, ensuring convenient handling and installation.
Breaking Records
Building on the success of its previous models, including the 470W and 475W panels, Aiko’s new 480W Neostar 2P is the first residential solar panel in Australia to surpass the 24 per cent efficiency mark. This achievement marks the third consecutive time that Aiko has set a new efficiency record in the Australian market.
Initial shipments of the 480W Neostar 2P are en route to Aiko’s Australian distribution partner, Solar Juice, with significant demand anticipated from premium solar installers seeking top-of-the-line products.
Continued Innovation
The launch of the 480W Neostar 2P follows closely on the heels of the 470W model receiving approval from the Australian Clean Energy Council (CEC) in September 2024. The 470W Neostar 2P, known for its 23.6 per cent efficiency, outperformed many panels of lower wattages in the market, showcasing Aiko’s commitment to excellence.
In a bid to solidify its position as a leader in Australia’s solar industry, Aiko has partnered with the Australian Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics (ACAP) on a groundbreaking $6 million initiative. This collaboration aims to achieve 30 per cent efficiency using interdigitated back contact (IBC) solar cells, demonstrating Aiko’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of solar technology.
