Solar giant launches new 660W solar module with “highest” efficiency

Canadian Solar Launches 660W Solar Module

Canadian Solar Launches High-Efficiency N-Type Solar Module

Canadian Solar, a prominent solar manufacturer, has introduced its latest N-type solar module with impressive features. This new module offers a maximum output of up to 660Wp and a remarkable conversion efficiency of up to 24.4 per cent. Additionally, it can lead to a 5 per cent decrease in the levelised cost of energy.

Designed for utility applications and commercial & industrial (C&I) systems, the new addition to Canadian Solar’s TOPCon 2.0 module series incorporates cutting-edge technologies to enhance energy production and system value, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.

Key Features of the TOPBiHiKu CS6.2 Module Series:

The TOPBiHiKu CS6.2 module series, currently showcased at Intersolar Europe in the Canadian Solar booth, utilises fine line printing to reduce solar finger width by more than 30 per cent. This reduction minimises shading and enhances the utilization of incident light. Moreover, an advanced firing process enhances contact resistance and diminishes carrier recombination in the contact area, resulting in a 10 mV increase in open-circuit voltage.

Furthermore, the module incorporates rear polysilicon optimisation, enabling a bifaciality of up to 90%, and next-generation passivation that boosts cell efficiency.

Benefits of the New N-Type Module:

The innovative N-type module offers an optimised temperature coefficient of -0.28%/°C and facilitates up to 2 per cent lower balance of system costs. Compared to standard TOPCon PV modules, it can lead to a 5 per cent reduction in the levelised cost of energy.

Thomas Koerner, the corporate senior vice president of Canadian Solar, expressed, “The CS6.2 module-series marks a significant advancement in solar technology, delivering the highest module efficiency, significantly reducing LCOE, and promoting sustainability for utility and commercial and industrial PV projects.”

He added, “With this launch, we reiterate our dedication to innovation and customer-centric developments as a frontrunner in the global energy transition.”
