“Terracotta” solar: New 400W PV modules blend in with red clay rooftops

Innovative 400W Terracotta Solar Panels

Sonnenkraft Introduces Innovative Terracotta Solar Panels

Sonnenkraft, a leading Austrian solar PV manufacturer established in 1993, has introduced a groundbreaking 400W glass-glass TOPCon solar panel designed to seamlessly integrate with terracotta roofs, particularly beneficial for historical buildings and monuments.

Renowned for its pioneering work in the solar industry, Sonnekraft has once again demonstrated innovation with the launch of the new “Terracotta” solar modules. These modules feature a unique coloured encapsulation material that imparts a distinctive red hue, allowing them to blend harmoniously with the roof tiles and almost disappear from view as solar panels.

Advanced Technology and Design

The colouring not only enhances the visual appeal but also minimises encapsulation loss, coupled with cutting-edge TOPCon solar cell technology, resulting in an impressive module output of 400Wp. The glass-glass panels are equipped with an anti-reflective coating to reduce glare and are encased in a slim 40mm aluminium frame. Additionally, these double-glazed panels hold certification for hail resistance class 4 from the German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt).

Preservation of Heritage

Sonnenkraft aims to broaden the application of solar energy by offering terracotta solar panels that can seamlessly blend with various residential rooftops, including listed buildings and monuments with stringent preservation guidelines. According to Sonnekraft, these panels enable the installation of photovoltaic systems on structures previously restricted by heritage regulations, thereby maintaining the cultural and historical integrity of these edifices.

Peter Prasser, the managing director of Sonnenkraft, expressed, “With our new solar module ‘Terracotta’, manufactured in Austria, we aim to promote the coexistence of heritage preservation and sustainable energy generation. The terracotta module not only caters to customers with design preferences for red tiled roofs but also contributes to local economic development.”

By introducing the aesthetically pleasing and technologically advanced terracotta solar panels, Sonnenkraft is paving the way for a more visually appealing and heritage-conscious approach to solar energy integration.
