Powerful new rooftop solar range launches offering module output up to 510W

Longi Launches EcoLife Solar Modules with 510W Output

Longi Introduces ‘EcoLife’ Solar Modules with HBC Technology

Longi, a Chinese solar manufacturer, has recently launched its latest ‘EcoLife’ series of solar modules at the Intersolar conference in Munich. These modules feature heterojunction back contact (HBC) technology, offering a cell efficiency of 27.3 per cent and a module efficiency of up to 25 per cent, with a maximum power output of 510W.

The EcoLife series includes two 54-cell modules, available in bifacial full black and transparent variants, showcasing maximum efficiencies of 24.7 per cent and 25 per cent, respectively, with power outputs of 505W and 510W. This series marks the first commercialised model to incorporate HBC technology, described by Longi as the “world’s only mass-produced HJT + BC cell technology,” specifically designed as a premium brand for residential use, offering a power per square meter ratio of 250W/m².

By combining the benefits of heterojunction (HJT) passivation with back-contact (BC) light absorption designs, the EcoLife modules ensure full-surface passivation from all angles, minimising metal recombination loss and achieving an open-circuit voltage exceeding 750mV.

Longi claims that compared to conventional modules, the EcoLife series provides 40W higher output and increases rooftop installation capacity by up to 9 per cent. Additionally, these modules feature a temperature coefficient of -0.24%/°C, reducing performance loss in high-temperature conditions, with only a 1 per cent degradation in the first year and an annual degradation rate of 0.35 per cent, setting a “best-in-class” standard.

The EcoLife panels are designed to withstand snow loads of up to 4 metres or 6,000Pa, Category 15 hurricane winds (3,600Pa), and hold a Class A fire rating. Longi’s proprietary TaiRay wafer enhances the module’s mechanical strength, increasing rupture resistance by 16 per cent and reducing surface collapse under stress.

Featuring bipolar passivation technology on the front, sides, and back, along with an anti-shading design, the EcoLife series achieves a local temperature reduction of 28 per cent, equivalent to 38°C, compared to traditional TOPCon cells.

Longi offers a 30-year power and material warranty for the EcoLife series, with the modules set to be available in Europe starting from August. However, there is no confirmation yet on the availability of these modules in Australia.
