Top Australian Solar Panel Outperforms Competitors
Australia’s sole solar panel producer, Tindo Solar, has emerged as the top performer in rooftop solar modules across the country, as per consumer advocacy organisation Choice.
Choice conducted tests on 15 rooftop solar panels towards the end of 2024, with Tindo’s 410W Karra panel standing out by achieving the only “Excellent measured power output” rating among all panels tested.
Outstanding Performance
The testing of the 410W Karra panel revealed a power output of 417W, surpassing its specified rating. In contrast, the other panels in the review fell short of the manufacturer’s claimed output.
Notably, Tindo’s 410W Karra was the sole Australian-made solar panel in the Choice panel review, with its monocrystalline PERC solar panel outshining other higher-priced alternatives.
Recognition and Validation
The 410W Karra from Tindo achieved an impressive overall ‘Choice Expert Rating’ of 92 per cent, significantly ahead of the next closest rating of 80 per cent.
Richard Petterson, CEO of Tindo, expressed pride in the company’s achievement, stating, “With a workforce of sixty individuals, we produce a solar panel that competes globally. Choice’s acknowledgment of our panel validates the extensive engineering and manufacturing efforts at our Adelaide facility.”
Petterson added, “Tindo’s commitment to research and development is substantial, with an in-house engineering team dedicated to continuous product enhancements. The panel recognised by Choice represents the eighth generation of solar panels developed by Tindo since the company’s inception in 2011.”
Future Prospects
The latest 2025 Choice expert ratings are accessible exclusively to members, concealing the final rankings and details of other panels reviewed from non-members.
