Trina Solar Unveils Revolutionary 808W Solar PV Module

Trina Solar, a prominent Chinese solar manufacturer, has unveiled the world’s first industrial-standard solar PV module capable of delivering over 800 watts of maximum power. This groundbreaking achievement marks a significant milestone in the solar energy sector, signalling the dawn of a new era in photovoltaic technology.

The newly developed module, spanning 3.1m2 and incorporating 210mmx105mm perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells, has successfully achieved a peak power output of 808W. This remarkable feat has been officially certified by the renowned global testing, inspection, and certification body, TÜV SÜD.

Revolutionising PV Technology

Gao Jifan, the chairman and CEO of Trina Solar, expressed his excitement about this groundbreaking development, stating, “This is a monumental breakthrough for perovskite/silicon tandem solar modules and a key milestone in PV technology.” He further added, “The successful creation of the world’s first 808W perovskite/silicon tandem solar module using an industrial-standard size of 210mm is a significant advancement towards the industrialisation of tandem modules.”

Jifan emphasised, “This achievement not only showcases Trina Solar’s leadership in PV innovation but also highlights the immense potential of perovskite tandem solar technology to surpass the efficiency limitations of traditional silicon-based solar cells, with theoretical efficiencies reaching up to 43 per cent.”
